Recipe 3: Corn Dog Bites

Looking for a recipe with hot dogs but no buns? This is the right one!


  • 1 baguette
  • 1 1/3 c. all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 hot dogs, sliced into 1" pieces
  • 2 c. vegetable oil
  • Ketchup, for serving
  • Mustard, for serving


Step 1:

In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, milk, cornmeal, sugar, melted butter, egg and baking powder. Stir until smooth and season with salt and pepper.

Step 2:

Roll hot dogs in remaining flour.

Step 3:

And then into the cornbread mixture.

Step 4:

In a pot or skillet with high sides, add enough oil to be 2” deep.

Heat to 350° and fry bites until they are golden on the outside and cooked on the inside, about 4 minutes.

Place on a paper towel to drain.

Step 5:

Serve with ketchup and mustard if desired.
